General

After a three-year handover period, company founder Kurt Ecker has retired to live the quiet life. I have known him since the company was set up 30 years ago. Since then, he and his wife Christine have built the firm up to become the biggest yacht chartering company in the eastern Mediterranean. This required entrepreneurial courage and huge amounts of energy. I would like to thank him for the trust he has shown in handing me his life’s work.
Years of friendship and collaboration have created a bond between us. Years ago, I financed the first 17 vessels for Ecker. I now bring with me years of international experience as financial director and most importantly, a passion for sailing which I have had since my youth. For me, it is important to continue fulfilling the company’s potential with long-serving employees and loyal customers.
Three key areas will shape the new season:
There is huge demand for OneWay chartering. We therefore intend to make it easier for our customers to satisfy their seafaring wanderlust. Behind the scenes, we provide a reliable service to support them as they travel from base to base.
More and more families are taking sailing holidays with Ecker and making the most of our reasonably priced packages.
The Ecker Cup is back! This time it will cover the 1,000 miles between Zadar
and Cyprus, the Isle of Aphrodite. Those not taking part in person can follow it
online.

I wish you all fair winds for 2012!

The Charter Company

Alexandra Hofinger

manages the chartering department. “I have been passionate about sailing since I was a teenager and have taken part in regattas in the Adriatic with an all-female crew. I have been working in the charter business for over 20 years and have known many customers for years. It is nice to be able to tell them about our products.”
